Description

Moist, cinnamon-swirled, quick, Easy Amish Apple Fritter Bread layered with juicy apples and topped with a sweet glaze, just like apple fritters in loaf form.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the bread:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the apple layer:
  • 2 large apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • For the cinnamon swirl:
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1โ€“2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • 2. In a medium bowl, mix chopped apples with 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
  • 3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, milk, and vanilla.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to wet mixture and stir until combined.
  • 5. Pour half the batter into prepared loaf pan. Top with half the apple mixture and half the brown sugar-cinnamon swirl. Repeat layers with remaining batter, apples, and swirl.
  • 6. Lightly swirl layers together with a knife for a marbled effect.
  • 7. Bake for 50โ€“60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 8. Cool bread in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • 9. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and drizzle glaze over cooled bread.

Notes

  • Best served slightly warm with extra glaze.
  • Try using Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples for the perfect sweet-tart balance.
  • Bread keeps well covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerated for up to 5 days.
