Description

A soft, moist, and buttery Amish cinnamon bread with a sweet cinnamon-sugar swirl no yeast required and ready to enjoy any time of day.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk (or 2 cups milk + 2 tbsp vinegar)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • 4. Stir in buttermilk until smooth.
  • 5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • 6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • 7. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  • 8. Spread half the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Sprinkle half the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
  • 9. Add the remaining batter, then top with the rest of the cinnamon sugar. Swirl gently with a knife.
  • 10. Bake for 50โ€“60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 11. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

  • For an extra touch, drizzle with vanilla glaze once cooled.
