Traditional Rice Krispie Treats

Description

Classic Rice Krispie Treats made with just three ingredients — gooey, chewy, and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows (about 6 cups)

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: pinch of salt


Instructions

1. Grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter or nonstick spray and set aside.

2. In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter.

3. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.

4. Stir in vanilla extract and salt if using.

5. Remove from heat and quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.

6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Press down gently and evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper.

7. Let cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

8. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Do not press the mixture too firmly or the treats will be hard.

Use fresh marshmallows for the best texture and meltability.

You can add mix-ins like mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, or drizzle with melted chocolate.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
