This incredible baklava bread captures all the nutty, syrupy goodness of classic baklava but in a comforting, loaf-cake form. It offers the perfect balance of sweet and savory notes, and is simple enough for a busy weeknight yet special enough for any gathering.
Ingredients
2 cups All-purpose flour
ยฝ cup Granulated sugar
2 teaspoons Baking powder
ยฝ teaspoon Baking soda
ยผ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamo
ยฝ teaspoon Ground nutmeg
2 Large eggs
ยพ cup Whole milk
ยฝ cup Vegetable oil
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 cup Chopped walnuts
1 cup Granulated sugar
ยฝ cup Water
ยผ cup Honey
1 tablespoon Lemon juice
ยฝ teaspoon Orange blossom water

- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Lightly grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pa
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ยฝ cup granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg
- In a separate medium bowl, beat the eggs. Then, stir in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clea
- While the baklava bread bakes, combine 1 cup granulated sugar, water, honey, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in orange blossom water if using
- As soon as the baklava bread comes out of the oven, poke holes all over the top with a skewer. Slowly pour the warm syrup over the hot. Allow the bread to cool completely in the pan, absorbing all that delicious syrup
