Description
Delicately fragrant cookies infused with the floral notes of lavender and the citrusy aroma of Earl Grey tea. A perfect pairing for afternoon tea or a calming treat.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 Earl Grey tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose leaf)
1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional: coarse sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, tea leaves, lavender, and salt.
5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
6. Roll dough into a log, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
7. Slice dough into 1/4-inch rounds and place on prepared baking sheet.
8. Sprinkle tops with coarse sugar if desired.
9. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until edges are just turning golden.
10. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Use culinary-grade lavender only—too much can overpower the cookies.
Chilling the dough helps keep the cookie shape during baking.
These cookies store well in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
