Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 4 oz (115g) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (30g) cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: white chocolate drizzle or powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • 2. In a small saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • 3. Whisk in brown sugar, molasses, eggs, and vanilla until glossy and combined.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  • 5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and fold gently until just combined do not overmix.
  • 6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • 7. Bake for 25โ€“30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • 8. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
  • 9. Optional: drizzle with melted white chocolate or dust with powdered sugar before serving.
