Crispy and melty gluten-free mozzarella cheese sticks, coated in seasoned gluten-free breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection—ideal for snacking or dipping in marinara sauce.

- 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, halved
- 1/4 cup gluten-free flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Optional: marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- 1. Cut mozzarella sticks in half for 16 pieces. Place on a tray and freeze for 30–60 minutes.
- 2. Set up three bowls: one with gluten-free flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of gluten-free breadcrumbs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
- 3. Coat each frozen cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating.
- 4. Freeze coated sticks again for 15–20 minutes to help prevent cheese from leaking during frying.
- 5. Heat 1–2 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- 6. Fry cheese sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- 7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
- Double freezing is key to maintaining shape while frying.
- For a baked option, spray with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes.
- Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven or air fryer.
