Description
Crispy and melty gluten-free mozzarella cheese sticks, coated in seasoned gluten-free breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection—ideal for snacking or dipping in marinara sauce.
Ingredients
8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, halved
1/4 cup gluten-free flour
2 large eggs, beaten
3/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
Vegetable oil, for frying
Optional: marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
1. Cut mozzarella sticks in half for 16 pieces. Place on a tray and freeze for 30–60 minutes.
2. Set up three bowls: one with gluten-free flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of gluten-free breadcrumbs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
3. Coat each frozen cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating.
4. Freeze coated sticks again for 15–20 minutes to help prevent cheese from leaking during frying.
5. Heat 1–2 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
6. Fry cheese sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
Double freezing is key to maintaining shape while frying.
For a baked option, spray with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes.
Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven or air fryer.
