Description
A savory and comforting ground beef and rice pie, encased in a flaky crust and packed with hearty flavors for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 cup cooked rice
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1 sheet refrigerated pie crust
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
3. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet, cooking until softened, about 3 minutes.
4. Stir in the cooked rice, frozen peas, shredded cheese, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
5. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
6. Spoon the beef and rice filling into the pie crust, smoothing the top.
7. Brush the edges of the crust with the beaten egg.
8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
9. Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a spicier filling, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a diced jalapeño.
This pie can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a convenient meal.
Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete dinner.
