- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet refrigerated pie crust
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- 3. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet, cooking until softened, about 3 minutes.
- 4. Stir in the cooked rice, frozen peas, shredded cheese, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- 5. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- 6. Spoon the beef and rice filling into the pie crust, smoothing the top.
- 7. Brush the edges of the crust with the beaten egg.
- 8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- 9. Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a spicier filling, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a diced jalapeño.
- This pie can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a convenient meal.
- Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete dinner.
