Flaky, golden puff pastry filled with sweet strawberries and a touch of cream—an easy yet elegant dessert for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup cream cheese or mascarpone (optional)
1 tbsp powdered sugar (for cream cheese mixture)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar for dusting
Flour for rolling
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a small bowl, mix strawberries with granulated sugar and vanilla; set aside to macerate.
3. If using cream cheese, blend with powdered sugar until smooth.
4. Lightly flour a surface and roll out puff pastry to smooth creases.
5. Cut into 4–6 rectangles or desired shapes.
6. Spread a small amount of cream cheese mixture in the center of each piece.
7. Top with a spoonful of the strawberry mixture.
8. Fold edges over slightly or leave open-faced for tarts.
9. Brush edges with egg wash.
10. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
11. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Use fully thawed but chilled puff pastry for best puff.
Add a drizzle of chocolate or glaze for extra sweetness.
Best served the same day but can be reheated in a toaster oven.
