Description
A simple and tangy homemade tart frozen yogurt recipe made with just a few ingredients — perfect for recreating that classic froyo shop flavor at home.
Ingredients
2 cups plain whole milk Greek yogurt (or dairy-free plain yogurt)
1/2 cup granulated sugar or honey
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: 1 tbsp light corn syrup or agave (for smoother texture)
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, sugar (or honey), lemon juice, vanilla extract, and corn syrup if using.
2. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
3. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
4. Chill the mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes if not already cold.
5. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes).
6. Serve immediately for soft-serve texture, or freeze for 1–2 hours for a firmer consistency.
Notes
Use Greek yogurt for a thick, creamy base and pronounced tang.
Lemon juice enhances the tartness — adjust to taste.
For dairy-free version, use coconut or almond-based yogurt.
Store frozen yogurt in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
Soften at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before scooping.
