Description

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
2 tbsp orange zest
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
2 tbsp fresh orange juice (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pa
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
- In a large bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each
- Stir in orange zest and vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and 1/2 cup orange juice, mixing until just combined
- Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 28–30 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clea
- Cool completely on a wire rack
- For frosting: beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and 2 tbsp orange juice until smooth
- Spread frosting over cooled cake. Chill for 30 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for best texture. Do not overmix batter.
Fresh orange juice is strongly recommended for bright flavor; avoid concentrate.
Chill the frosting before spreading to make neat layers. Add extra zest on top for more orange aroma.
Store covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Bring to room temperature before serving, or microwave slices for 10 seconds for a warm treat.
