Description

A classic Southern peach cobbler recipe from Paula Deen featuring sweet peaches baked with a buttery, tender-crisp topping. This comforting dessert is simple to make and perfect served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamo
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish and put in oven to melt
  2. Whisk flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth
  3. In another bowl, toss sliced peaches with 1 cup sugar and cinnamo
  4. Carefully remove hot dish from oven. Pour batter evenly over melted butter (do not stir)
  5. Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter
  6. Bake for 45-55 minutes until top is golden brown and fruit is bubbling

Notes

Do not stir the batter and butter together – this creates the perfect texture.

Can use canned or frozen peaches (drained/thawed).

Let cobbler rest 10-15 minutes before serving for juices to thicken.

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
