Description
A classic Southern peach cobbler recipe from Paula Deen featuring sweet peaches baked with a buttery, tender-crisp topping. This comforting dessert is simple to make and perfect served warm with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamo
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish and put in oven to melt
- Whisk flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth
- In another bowl, toss sliced peaches with 1 cup sugar and cinnamo
- Carefully remove hot dish from oven. Pour batter evenly over melted butter (do not stir)
- Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until top is golden brown and fruit is bubbling
Notes
Do not stir the batter and butter together – this creates the perfect texture.
Can use canned or frozen peaches (drained/thawed).
Let cobbler rest 10-15 minutes before serving for juices to thicken.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
