Description

A Southern Banana Cobbler that transforms ripe bananas into a luscious, gooey filling topped with a golden, crisp crust. It feels special but requires minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

4 medium ripe bananas, sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon ground cinnamo
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven until melted
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ½ cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth
  4. Carefully pour batter over melted butter; do not stir
  5. Toss sliced bananas with lemon juice, remaining ½ cup sugar, and cinnamo
  6. Place banana mixture evenly on top of batter; do not stir
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes until top is golden brown and filling bubbles
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before serving

Notes

Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for best sweetness.

Never stir the batter after adding bananas; the crust forms on its own.

Let cobbler rest before serving to allow filling to set.
